Neil Gaiman Faces New Allegations of Sexual Assault

Neil Gaiman

Neil Gaiman, the renowned author of “Sandman,” “Good Omens,” and “Coraline,” has been confronted with a new wave of sexual assault allegations, adding to the accusations that first surfaced in July 2023. These initial claims were brought to light in a six-episode podcast series by Master, which featured accounts from five women detailing alleged misconduct by the celebrated fantasy writer.

Recently, several women have come forward on the record in a Vulture report, sharing disturbing experiences with Gaiman. Scarlett Pavlovich, a former babysitter for Neil and his ex-wife Amanda Palmer, recounted her harrowing experience. Scarlett, who became friends with Amanda at the age of 22, was asked to babysit the couple’s son at Neil’s home on Waiheke Island, New Zealand, during a period when the couple was separated.

According to Scarlett, Neil persuaded her to bathe naked in his garden. She alleged that he joined her in the bath, also naked, and performed a sex act against her will, instructing her to call him “master” and referring to her as a “good girl.” She further claimed that Neil’s assaults persisted during her time as a babysitter, with his son even adopting similar behavior, calling her a “slave” and demanding she address him as “master.”

Another woman, identified as Caroline, shared her account, alleging that Neil placed her hand on his genitals without consent. She remarked, “He didn’t have boundaries. I remember thinking that there was something really wrong with him.”

Additional allegations emerged from Katherine Kendall, who claimed that Neil attempted to initiate sex with her on his tour bus when she was 22 and they met in 2012. Meanwhile, Kendra Stout accused the author of raping her in 2007 after meeting him at a book signing when she was 18.

Neil Gaiman, who has consistently denied all allegations since they first surfaced in 2023, has seen his professional life disrupted as a result. He has stepped back from his role in the production of the third season of Prime Video’s adaptation of “Good Omens.”

The allegations have cast a shadow over Gaiman’s storied career and raised broader questions about accountability within the creative industries. While he maintains his innocence, the accusations continue to attract widespread attention and scrutiny, with the story still unfolding.
