NBA legend and philanthropist Shaquille O’Neal has expressed his deep concern for the thousands of Los Angeles residents displaced by the devastating wildfires that have ravaged the region. The four-time NBA champion, known as much for his charitable endeavors as for his basketball dominance, vowed to support relief efforts during this time of crisis.
“I feel deeply for those who have lost their homes and loved ones,” O’Neal said, adding that he is working behind the scenes to assist affected communities. Wildfires Leave Trail of Destruction
The wildfires have caused widespread destruction, turning entire neighborhoods in Los Angeles to ash. As of Tuesday, the death toll had risen to 25, according to the Los Angeles medical examiner’s office. Over 12,000 structures have been damaged or destroyed, underscoring the monumental rebuilding task ahead.
Among those directly affected is Lakers head coach JJ Redick, who lost his home in the massive Pacific Palisades blaze. The disaster also forced the Lakers to postpone two home games last week before resuming play on Monday.

Despite the devastation, O’Neal expressed hope, saying he was heartened by the way the city has come together to support those in need. On Monday, 12 professional sports teams in Los Angeles, including the Lakers, pledged $8 million toward wildfire relief efforts.
